‘Little Disciples at the service of the Lord’

Savio Friends of Great Britain (SFGB) is a commission for children who are yet to receive Solemn Holy Communion. All catechism children from the year 1 to the year 4, are considered as ‘Savio Friends’. This eparchial level commission has taken its name as SAVIO FRIENDS OF GREAT BRITAIN (SFGB) and St. Dominic Savio, who gave his own love for God at such a young age, is the heavenly patron. SFGB, which was established in 2017 aims to foster the spiritual growth of children and to nurture their faith guided with wisdom, love, and Christian values. So that, we can transform the childhood of our children into a Holy Childhood’ which is the real mind of the Church regarding the children. So to say, the intention of this commission is to form the children as little missionaries by learning and practicing the word of God and worthily celebrating the sacraments.
The commission will work at three levels; eparchial, regional and at mission level. The animators are elected preferably from the catechism teachers who are able to bring the children together for prayer and other activities. The structure of SFGB working at the eparchial, regional, and mission levels provides a strong foundation for reaching out to a wide community, ensuring that children from different missions are included in this spiritual journey. The involvement of catechism teachers as animators is a key element in providing consistent guidance and support to the children. SFGB is trying to create an environment where children can grow spiritually, develop a deep love for God, and become active members of both their families and the wider church community.
